The Garnish Bar

Specializing in whisky, The Garnish Bar is an obligatory stop on any tour of bars in Mendoza. Run by Gonzalo Palacio, drinkers can choose from between a selection of 420 whiskies from all across the world. The extensive list offers a choice of 15, 30, and 60 ml measures for 160 brands.   

In addition to its vast range of whiskies, the bar also stocks 80 labels of gin from Argentina and overseas, four expressions of mezcal, between 15 and 20 labels of rum and over 20 choices of vodka, imported liqueurs and piscos. 

Apart from the drinks menu, The Garnish is also proud of its cocktails with over 35 available ranging from classics, to reimagined versions and new inventions. Their star cocktail is their version of Penicillin, created in 2005 when the establishment opened. Of course, there’s also room for wine, and cocktails made with wines from selected wineries in Mendoza are also available.

Gómez Rooftop

The landscapes of Mendoza are undoubtedly one of the province’s major attractions. Just imagine what it’s like to appreciate them from on high with a cocktail in hand. Located in an iconic spot in the city, just a few feet from the center, the Edificio Gómez offers an unrivalled panoramic view that combines cocktails by Sabrina Rodríguez Cuack with a menu introduced as a Guide to the Flavors of Mendoza.  

Although the establishment opens in the morning and right through the day with options for brunch and tea, the best time to visit is during the golden hour, when you can watch the sun go down over the Andes. Meanwhile, the lounge serves dinner seasoned by the play of lights over Mendoza and you can round off the evening in the pub section, listening to a live DJ.

La Sala de Maridajes

When it comes to bars in Mendoza, you can’t ignore the wine. La Sala de Maridajes has achieved the perfect combination between the charm and excellent range of a wine bar and the freshness of cocktails and food service.  

Run by Malena Martínez, who is also the bartender, La Sala serves a varied list of cocktails and mocktails with over thirty classic and bespoke choices. In addition, there is a special section for gin and tonics and vermouths with dozens of choices to choose from or even the option of inventing your own. 

As the name (The Pairing Room) suggests, pairing plays a fundamental role and every fortnight a new menu is served in which the restaurant’s dishes, made by executive chef Andrea Blanco and head chef Agustín Palermini, are paired with specially chosen wines from a selected winery. There is also an extensive wine list with over 300 labels and wines by the glass.

La Fuerza

The Mendoza branch of a brand where vermouths come first. Here, you’ll find all the labels produced by La Fuerza: Rojo, Blanco, Primavera and Sideral as well as the La de Valientes off-shoot and cocktails made with vermouth such as La Fuerza Spritz, Primavera Spritz, Spritz de los Andes, Súper Tonic and La Fuerza Negroni. The Vermouth Hour, from Tuesday to Saturday 6PM to 7:30PM is the best time to go.  

When it comes to food, classic snacks such as French fries, nibble platters, sandwiches and grilled specials are served.

UNDER Wine Bar (hidden bar)

There’s more to Mendoza than meets the eye. if you’re looking for great bars in Mendoza, this is certainly true of the unusual concept behind Under Wine Bar, and its real location. In the center of Mendoza, what seems a humble fast food restaurant hides a captivating cellar in which wine and cocktails come to the fore accompanied by simple but flavorful dishes. 

In addition to a long list of wines categorized by style and variety, the Under list also offers a selection of classical cocktails, new versions and bespoke inventions such as Aperol, in which the aperitif is macerated in fruit. It’s all accompanied by a live DJ. However, it’s worth remembering that Under Wine Bar is closed during the summer.
