The winemaker of Catena Zapata has been awarded 100 points for two of his wines by Wine Advocate. Find out what they are. Alejandro Vigil wrote: “I´m crying”. Since Argentina began exporting seriously, almost three decades ago, 100 points from Wine Advocate were beyond the reach of regional wineries. But those days are over. Last night the Wine Advocate ranking of Argentine wines from the last visit of Luis Gutiérrez, was announced. And at the top, two wines by the winemaker Alejandro Vigil: Gran Enemigo Gualtallary Single Vineyard, Cabernet Franc 2013 from Aleanna Vineyard, and Catena Zapata Adriana Vineyard Riverstone Malbec 2016. Both made with grapes from the Adrianna vineyard, in Gualtallary.
In the chat, one minute later, it reads: “Wow, I’m speechless.”. Among the first 20 wines in the ranking Alejandro Vigil has 12, up to 97 points. Do you need anything else to be speechless? An extra fact: 1288 wines were tasted and 735 were above 90 points.
